MOAB, UTAH

Software you own, for the things you shouldn't rent.

Four systems I build and run for my family — a school, a ledger, a privacy scanner, and a lab. Built for one household, at four different stages, labeled honestly.

01 — THE ECOSYSTEM

What's running

Four systems, at four different stages. I've labeled each one honestly.

Flokus Academy

IN PRODUCTION

A learning management system built for exactly one classroom: mine. Yearly planning, unit tracking, and assignments, without the district-scale features a homeschool will never use. My son uses it every day, which is the only reason it works.

Flokus Financials

IN PRODUCTION — SINGLE USER

One dashboard for every account and asset, so I can see the whole picture at once. It runs for a single user by design, which keeps financial data scoped to exactly one person who needs it. This one and Academy are where most of my engineering hours have gone.

Flokus Privacy Audit

MVP

A scanner that finds the tracking pixels, third-party requests, and data leaks on a website. It's passive: it never authenticates, never stores page contents, and only ever sees what any visitor's browser would. It isn't open source yet. A security tool you can't read isn't one you should trust, so it will be — once I've fixed the parts that aren't ready.

PYTHON · PLAYWRIGHT · SQLITE

SOURCE NOT PUBLIC YET

Flokus Lab

ACTIVE EXPERIMENTS

Where the unfinished things live — media pipelines, local AI workflows, and whatever I'm currently learning. Including the experiments that didn't work, which are usually the more useful writeups.

02 — WHO'S BEHIND THIS

One person, one desert town

I'm a medical laboratory technician in Moab, Utah. Lab work is a good teacher for software: you run controls, you document everything, and a result you can't reproduce isn't a result. I bring the same habits to the things I build, which is why these projects have more tests and fewer features than you'd expect.

I homeschool my son, which is why Academy exists — I needed a gradebook built for one kid, not a district, and nothing on the market was. Flokus is named after my poodle, Floki. He has nothing to do with the software and supervises all of it.

IF YOU WANT ONE

These are built for one family right now.

Academy and Financials run for exactly one household — mine. If you'd want either for yours, leave an email and I'll tell you when they're ready for other people. That's the only thing I'll ever use it for.

No list, no newsletter, no sharing. One email, when there's news.
